SAT Superscore Calculator
Use this calculator to combine your best section results from different test dates and estimate your strongest possible total score. It helps students compare attempts, check their target gap, and plan whether another retake may be worth it. Enter your Reading & Writing and Math scores from each test date, then review your best possible result based on your highest score in each section.
Calculate Your Superscore
Enter each SAT attempt or practice test score.
Calculate your best result from multiple test dates
The tool is made for students who have taken the digital SAT more than once or are planning future attempts. Instead of only looking at one full test, it checks your best section scores across all entered attempts.
This can help you see:
Your current superscore
Your best Reading & Writing result
Your best Math result
Your strongest single sitting score
Your remaining target gap
Which section may need more focus before the next test
How to use the tool
Add each attempt separately. For every row, enter the test date, your R&W score, and your Math score from your score report.
Then add your goal score if you have one. The tool will show your calculator result and help you compare it with your target superscore.
Use official results from your College Board score report when available. You can also enter a practice score from a Bluebook practice test if you are using the calculator for planning.
SAT superscore formula
The basic superscore formula is:
Best Reading & Writing score + best Math score = current superscore
For example:
| Test | Reading & Writing | Math |
|---|---|---|
| Test 1 | 650 | 700 |
| Test 2 | 690 | 670 |
Your best score for Reading & Writing is 690.
Your best score for Math is 700.
So the combined result is:
690 + 700 = 1390
That result is based on best R&W + best Math, not only one test sitting.
What your result means
Your result is an estimate of the best score you may be able to report if a college accepts superscoring. It is useful for planning, but you should still check each college’s policy before sending scores.
The SAT uses a 400–1600 total score range. Each section uses a 200–800 section score range. The highest possible result is a 1600 maximum score, with up to an 800 Math score and an 800 Reading and Writing score.
If your result is close to your goal, a small improvement in one section may be enough. If your section gap is larger, the tool can help you decide where your study time should go first.
Superscore vs best single test score
Your best test score comes from one complete test date. A superscore can be higher because it combines your strongest section results from different attempts.
For example, your best full test may be 1360, but your combined result from two dates may be 1400. This type of score comparison helps you understand whether your strongest application score is from one sitting or from multiple dates.
Some colleges accept this method, while others prefer a single sitting score or follow an all scores policy.
When this tool is useful
This tool can help when you are:
Comparing multiple test dates
Checking your college admissions score estimate
Planning a retake planner strategy
Reviewing your score history
Finding a section weakness
Tracking performance tracking from practice to official results
Preparing for a college application
Planning around an application deadline
It is also helpful if you are using Khan Academy, Bluebook, or your My SAT Dashboard to review progress.
Before you send your scores
A strong result can support your application, but colleges do not all use scores the same way. Some test-optional colleges may not require scores. Some college admissions offices may accept superscoring, while others may ask for all test dates.
Also check how your schools handle Score Choice, self-reporting, and official score send rules. For some programs, scholarship consideration may have separate score requirements.
When in doubt, review the school’s testing page or contact the admissions office directly.

A SAT Superscore combines your highest section results from different test dates. It uses your best Reading & Writing score and your best Math score to create one stronger combined result.
Do all colleges accept superscores?
No. Each school has its own score-use policy. Some accept superscores, some use your best full test, and some may ask for all submitted scores.
Can I use practice test scores?
Yes, you can use a practice test score for study planning. For applications, use your official result from the College Board.
What is the maximum possible result?
The highest possible result is a 1600 maximum score. The SAT has 2 sections, and each section can go up to 800.
